the Living room
“Life” – now…. this is where we those ‘Elephants’ come into it. The old saying “The Elephant in the Room” refers to that obvious, awkward ‘thing/issue/situation/emotion/feeling’ that everyone wants to pretend isn’t there, but we all know it is.
Here’s the thing, those ‘Elephants’ wont go away on their own, they need to be faced and acknowledge, starting with a simple “Hello”.
Ignoring ‘Elephants’ can cause us to:
- Retreat to ‘comfort zones’ (self-sabotage)
- Eat our way into ‘safety’ (emotional eating) or
- stay stuck on that couch (no sense of passion)
I definitely have ‘Elephants’ popping in to my ‘Living’ room (life). Sometimes, these ‘Elephants’ are literally siting on top of me, and I have to work hard to get them off, sometimes they come in charging like a wild bull making a mess everywhere and I have no choice but to deal with them, and sometimes, they are just looming in the corner, and I have to be brave and approach them first.
Sharing stories about my ‘Elephants’ (personal issues, concerns, feeling and thoughts) helps me process them. I believe that sharing our thoughts, reaching out, & communicating with each other is the key to being real in this world, and living our lives to its fullest, experiencing all it has to offer. Expect to see plenty of “Living” Blogs posted here, and please join in, comment & share your advice and opinions so we know we are not alone with our Elephants.
