Hello!
Well yesterday was the last day for the Hello Abs – June Challenge, and can I just say, my abs cramped up in pain at every set! YOUCH!! AND I have a (hopefully temporary) carpet burn/graze on my bum crack from all of those sit-ups! and it hurts! It all started one morning when I did the challenge in my jeans! Yep, crazy, I know. Who exercises wearing jeans?! Well, me, I did. My excuse is that we were heading out that morning, so my exercise window was small, and I didn’t have time to get changed.
I knew at my 60th sit-up, that it was a silly idea, so I pulled my jeans down to my ankles, and kept going. However, Fletcher (9yrs old) looked a little concerned and was struggling to eat his breakfast. Poor kid. So I spared him the early morning visual of his mum in undies, pulled my jeans up, and endured the pain for the rest of the set. The ‘burn’ is still healing. YOUCH!
Anyway, Abs are done, and they certainly feel so much better for it! I’ve decided to keep an Ab exercise in the Butt Challenge, just to make sure all that hard work does not go to waste. I’m going to do the Leg Raises, as they were the ones I struggled with the most, so I want to get stronger at them.
I have designed this Butt Challenge to be Squat FREE!! Now, we all know that Squats and Lunges are, two of THE best exercises, you can do for toning and strengthening your Butt, however, I designed this challenge to be Squat Free for a number of reasons.
1) Most people have never been taught the correct way to Squat or Lunge. During my 10+ years of Personal Training, I have had to teach, and correct, Squat form, to over 90% of my clients. I’d worry if I was to give you a Butt Challenge with Squats, and you did them incorrectly. You could hurt your knees and/or not engage your Glutes (Butt) and therefore, waste your time in this challenge.
The other reason is:
2) I can do these exercises first thing in the morning, either barefoot or with my slippers on, not joggers or sandshoes. I’m not a fan of squatting barefoot, especially because I wear orthodics in my shoes, and it changes the biomechanics of my squats without them.
I also wanted a challenge that was excuse free – like “I don’t have time to put my shoes on”. So, this Butt Challenge is all about just dropping to the floor and getting it done! No excuses!
So, if your keen to get your
Butt into gear, get your
Butt into shape, and not get your
Butt kicked, then lets start this July Challenge! hahaha!
Have fun!!
