HIS Post Workout Green Protein Shake
If you haven’t noticed yet “Green” is the new “Black”. Drinking Green Smoothies and Green Juices is becoming more and more popular.
My next blog will be my thoughts on the two, AND how I got the kids involved! (Lots to tell you about that one.)
Anyway, after a heavy resistance training (weight workout) you need to re-fuel your body with protein to help repair the muscle, and Protein is delivered to the muscular cells faster with Carbs. So, your post workout out drink, or meal, needs to consist of both Protein and Carbs. Easy.
Today, Matt’s post workout drink included 2 large scoops of Sunwarrior Rice Protein Powder, and Carbs from: Lettuce, Spinach, Banana, Pear, Rice Milk and Yoghurt.
If I had put all those carbs out on a plate/bowl/glass for him, he would have looked at me like I was asking him to fly to the moon, and commented with a version of “I don’t have time to sit here and eat all of that!”
So, instead, it all went into the blender, and I presented him with a “thickshake”.
Everyone is happy! Hehehehe!
Here’s what was in it, and the order it went into the blender.
8 x Baby Cos Lettuce Leaves
1 x Handful of baby spinach
1 x Fresh Diced Pear with skin
1 x Banana
2 x heaped scoops Sunwarrior Vanilla Rice Protien Powder
2 x dollops of low fat Vanilla Jalna Yoghurt (I prefer Greek Yoghurt, but Matt’s not a fan…yet hehe)
½ glass of Rice Milk
1 x glass of water
Nutritional breakdown: Calories 550 Protein 45g Carbs 75g Fats 7g
Blend while doing a little ‘groove of happiness’ with your hips (dance around the kitchen)
Serve to your man, post workout with a little kiss, and tell him he earned it 😉

ps yes us girls can have this smoothie too! If I was going to have it as a replacement meal, for my lunch or dinner, then I would have it as above. However if it was my post workout or morning/afternoon tea, I would use 1/2 the banana, only 1 dollop of yoghurt (or no yoghurt), no milk and more water.
I’ll upload later this week, the Hers Post Workout Green Protein Smoothie shake I made for myself today. It was different to Matt’s.
